St. Patricks Day Toddler Activities

I’m trying something new this month with sharing what I’m doing with Ryder for St. Patricks Day. I’ve done some more printable + sensory bins and less crafts (but we’re still using some of those. So I’m making the main post on Instagram and still showing some of my favorite activities that we do in real life, but also want to share links to lots of the things that I am using so that you can use low + no prep activities with your kids too!

February Toddler Activities

Hey Hey —

Oooo the month of loooove. This month you’ll see all things pink + red + hearts (which is so atypical for this boy mama). I expanded the newsletter this month to give a little more info about each of the tasks I’m sharing and because I’m planning a little bit ahead this month, I’m hoping you’ll see a lot of these activities + snacks + crafts in action over on my Instagram page.

As always, most of these activities are designed around my 2 year olds capabilities, but we do tons as a family, so the twins can get involved too (+ obviously the books and gift ideas are good for all ages). Click the link below to download the February Activities sheet for the month.

I found a few different layouts for these “gift” ideas, but I was really looking for something a little bit more my style, so here are the printouts for each of those ideas if you choose to use them.

If you + your toddler do any of them, make sure to tag me on Instagram so I can see them! If you want more in depth or additional ideas, I’ll be sharing how we are using each of these throughout the month over on Instagram.

Valentines Day Sensory Bin

Let’s make a valentines day sensory bin together. I always love to include the PDF below with all my sensory bin activities so that I have a starting point for what I need and how I can use it, as well as a picture to guide me for what I’m hoping it will turn out like.

I looked up a whole bunch of different options for themed sensory bins + decided that I just wanted a whole bunch of different textures + shapes + colors. I went to both Hobby Lobby + the Dollar Tree and picked up lots of different options for the bin, then got home, sorted them all + picked a few of most of the items to add to the bin.

I spent about $18 on everything and can use a lot of it for multiple other ideas I have for Valentine’s Day. I also loved all the different textures and the conversations that Ryder and I had together about the size (big or small), firms (soft or hard), color (pink, white, red, etc), and textures (smooth, rough, shiny, foamy, spiky, etc). We talked through a lot of it together and then he worked to sort them by item on his own while I did nap time.

Anyways, it was super fun all around. Check out my IG highlight (sensory bins) for more ideas + to see this one in action!

Winter Animals Sensory Bin

Let’s make a “save the whales (+ sharks)” sensory bin together. I always love to include the PDF below with all my sensory bin activities so that I have a starting point for what I need and how I can use it, as well as a picture to guide me for what I’m hoping it will turn out like.

So this activity did not go according to plan, but it ended up being awesome + he’s already asked to do it again (they’re back in the freezer). One thing I’ve learned for independent play with toddlers is that if I spend 5-10 minutes prepping an activity before I go to bed at night, it’s so beneficial to have it done the next day! So last night I put these little sharks + whales into the cupcake tin and filled it up with water and stuck it into the deep freezer for overnight. This afternoon, I pulled it out and I COULD NOT get them out of the cupcake holder. So I was running them under warm water until they cracked enough to get them out. Fail number one.

Then I brought them in to Ryder’s sensory bin table and give him pipettes and spray bottles + went next door to feed the twins. Josh went to check on him and said they weren’t even melting, so we can up with putting them in a giant bowl of warm water and helping them “thaw” that way. It worked and he loved it and with each one that thawed, he yelled “it’s alive!” Fail number two, but it was okay because we troubleshot really fast, but I remembered (too late), that I forgot the salt and that’s what I was supposed to use to help it melt quicker.

Anyways, it was super fun all around. Check out my IG highlight (sensory bins) for more ideas + to see this one in action!

Hot Chocolate Sensory Bin

Let’s make a hot chocolate sensory bin together. I always love to include this with all my sensory bin activities so that I have a starting point for what I need and how I can use it, as well as a picture to guide me for what I’m hoping it will turn out like.

So I added all the items to my table, but knew that I needed something to add to work towards it being better for educational play. I created these “hot chocolate recipe cards” so that we could also work on counting up to 25 with the cocoa puffs and the marshmallows. Ryder loved “serving” these drinks up to us (+ sneaking a few marshmallows when we weren’t looking). Make sure to click the link below to download these cards to use in your sensory bin.

Happy sensory table play!

January Toddler Activities

Hey Hey —

It has been a hot minute. Honestly don’t think I’ve posted in almost a year. Well here we are — I have a toddler who has endless amounts of energy + 7 month old twins. I’ve realized that my sanity is much more in tact when I take a few minutes each week to plan some fun activities to do with my toddler while I’m entertaining + feeding my babies. My hope is that each month I’ll have a post similar to this one where I share some activities + books + snacks that I’ll be doing throughout the month with my toddler (but I’m not fully committing to it because 3 this age is tough). Anyways, without further ado, here’s the link to download my January toddler activities.

If you + your toddler do any of them, make sure to tag me on Instagram so I can see them! If you want more in depth or addition ideas, I’ll be sharing how we are using each of these throughout the month over on Instagram.
